Over 64,260 deaths have been confirmed since October 7th in Gaza by which over 186,000 has been considered plausible by the Lancet in 2024. 70% of these deaths were children, women and the elderly, showing the high rate of murder toward innocent civilians.
The targeting of children
One of which being Hind Rajab, a 5-year-old girl who had been shot around 300 times; the tragedy of Hind is one of tens-of thousands of murders committed by the IDF and Gaza against children. Within the first 7 days of 2025, UNICEF reports at least 74 children were killed; the reality of children in Gaza has been surrounded by death. A report conducted by the Community Training Centre for Crisis Management in Gaza has found that 96% of children in Gaza believe their death is imminent with over 50% showing signs of suicidal intent. The IDF has shown consistent patterns of intentionally targeting children as accurate sniper wounds towards the head or heart have been found in dead children and babies. They target and murder children and infants in the most heinous ways consistently, methodically and widely, unpaused since October 7th.
It is evident that Gaza has become a graveyard for children and babies with many who could not even be formally buried due to being stuck under mass rubbles or annihilated to the point wherein the only remains to be buried are limbs or a plastic bag of flesh. Because of the frequent and relentless bombing of neighbourhoods, buildings, shelters and displacement tents, children are murdered and mutilated. Clearly a violation of the “legal and moral requirement to ensure all necessary precautions to minimise the deaths of civilians and children, as stipulated by international law.
The number of children and babies murdered and mutilated by the Israeli Defence Force is horrendous and provides insight towards the dehumanisation of Palestinians, whether man, woman, children, infant or even a newborn baby.
The genocide of children has continued outside of lethal force through malnutrition, rampant diseases within camps, hypothermia or scarce access to medical care for conditions, that have increased the totality of children deaths in Gaza. Such conditions have been induced intentionally by Israel as they have shut off pipes that supply Gaza with water, alongside electricity, critical resources that are managed and controlled by the Israeli government. Not to mention, aid trucks have experienced very limited entry into Gaza as 83% aid trucks had been blocked, cutting off essential supplies for children and babies which has contributed towards their death.
